CAUSE AND SYMPTOMS OF DENGUE

Causes and Symptoms of Dengue

What is Dengue? What causes dengue fever?

Dengue is caused when a mosquito bites an infected person, picks the virus and then bites someone else, thus passing the virus from one person to another.   2. Headache
  3. Vomiting
  4. Muscle and Joint Pain

However, these are the early symptoms of the disease. Sometimes people tend to overlook them, and it develops into a more serious form of Dengue, where the symptoms are:

  1. Bleeding from Nose or Gums
  2. Low levels of blood platelets
  3. Blood plasma leakage
  4. Low blood pressure.
  5. Fatigue, Restless and Irritable
  6. Intense Stomach Pain
  7. Vomiting (minimum thrice in one day)

Dengue symptoms in children

Symptoms of dengue in children and those who have acquired the disease for the first time may be mild. Dengue symptoms in children are almost the same as in the young and in adults. A very high temperature in children can sometimes lead to fits or convulsions.

Children and old people are vulnerable to dengue disease. Additionally, tropic and sub-tropical areas like Latin America and the Caribbean and the western Pacific Islands have high cases of dengue.   • Close doors and windows. Though it may sound clichéd, it is helpful. It prevents dangerous mosquitoes from entering your home. Don’t allow mosquitoes to create havoc.
  • Avoid using strong scents or fragrance which may attract mosquitoes to you.
